Des Moines, Iowa, Jul 2d 1857 Mr. C A Bartholomew Danville, Ind Dear Sir -- I have to-day delivered your note to B F Allan -- and he says it is all right except that his proposition contemplated the immediate payment on your part of 700$ and if you wait till August before you make the payment he will require of you 10 per cent int on 700$ up to time of payment from the date when he made the proposition to you -- that he is willing to receive the 700$ and make a contract to make good the title -- that is through the Lyon Est &c -- as understood but will require 10 per ct on 700$ as above -- If you send money to me to pay -- send also the contract you want him to sign and instruct me fully whether I may make any changes in it and if so what -- yours J.
