August 9 /62 Camp Montgomery near Corrinth Miss. Dear Father I recieved yours of July 30th last night. I have not written for sometime for I was waiting to to hear from you, then after Col Gifford came here I thought I would wait until the things that he brought down to me, he got seperated from the box on the road between Columbus and Corinth I have not got it yet but now there is an express office in Corinth so that things comeing to the boys can bee sent by express, So if you have not sent the trunk yet send it immediately in care of the Adams Express theirs is the only express line running to Corinth also send in the trunk about $2.00 worth of Reunens best fine out Chewing Tobacco and 2 tooth brushes and 2 papers of tripoly and a little rotten stone for cleaning brass, if handy I wish you would get an extra key for my trunk and send one by mail and the other in an envelop by express with the trunk then if I get both I will have one to loose.
