La Grange Tenn. Aug 24th 1863 Dear Father I wrote to you on the 21st a short letter. I have not recd ainy from you except the two that Billy brought down, since the 8th. I wrote on the 8th in your last you didnot say ainything about that Potograph of the battle field of Corinth Oct 3d & 4th Burchill put it with some of his papers, and I was afraid that he would forget to give it to you. also let me know if those sensitive plants will live if not I will try to send up another one. we have a very pleasant place for our Camp. here about 1/4 of a mile north of the Depot on a ridge and an open field all around us. and a few trees scattered through the camp that affords a fine shade the trees are Chestnut and Oak we have a fine Chestnut in front and one in rear of our tent. all of the trees are loaded with burrs so I think that we will have a good crop of nuts. This is the prettyest town that I have seen in the South. there is a great many fine houses
