but it was with the understanding that his claims should not be regarded if Capt. McCall was an applicant. We most heartily approve of the practice of rewarding those who accomplish most in processing volunteers; and had it been adopted early in the war, Boon County would not have been without a regimental officer in the field. If Capt. McC. was here, he would accomplish much toward raising a full Co. in the county, but in his absence those who have worked to this end would be glad to have the credit of their labors inure to the Capts.
