having taken cold on the measles I then started for my Regiment which was up red river some 80. or 100. miles above New. Orleans. and the next day after I left new orleans I took the black erysiplas and I was worse. than I was before I went up to where my Regt. was but was not able to leave the boat I was then taken back to the Same Hospital on the 23d of may and before I was able to leave the Hospital an order came for to send all of the patients from the Hospital that was able to go to their Regts. and them that was not able to go must be put into the Veteran Reserve Corps and before I new where I was to go I was examined and marked for the aforsaid Corps and
