and rocks of an old castle of long ago - A picturesque enough place! The views from here are extremely lovely, and the walks are delightfully restful and fragrant with [pitch?] and lead through shaded forest paths. To say something of the inspiring ruins which afford many lovely compositions for sketches. From Saverne (Haut Barr) we [illegible] to Strassburg for an illustrated lantern slide lecture of Persia and back to Wandenbourg for the night. Wandenbourg is a tiny village set amidst esquisite scenery - smiling valleys broad and green dotted with pink-roofed homes framed by pine and descidious tree-clad mountains stretching away in all directions We were quite charmed with it all.
