The villiages of these quaint conservative fisherfolk are equally as interesting as the inhabitants. Tiny gay colored houses with steep pitched roofs zizzag up and down the canals. They flaunt gay colored fronts - greens, reds and yellows - and are roofed by pink tiles. Moreoften the houses are of brick but if wooden give occassion for a bit more color than the bright facings and gates. The interiors, too, give peeps of brilliant blues background, adorned in profusion with Delft ware.
