Feb. 21 /84. Hattie Sheete was down yesterday afternoon and staid to supper with me. She came to see about the leap year dance which will be the 7 of March. In the evening we went to the rink. I was over to Dell's in the afternoon and she had such a bad cold she said she could not go to the rink but I found her there with [Philo?] [Canfield?]. She told me afterwards that Al [Holt?], [Philo?] and a Mr. Temple from [Fairfield?] called and [Philo?] asked her to go. I skated with Mr. Temple and was flattered all the time. He said "I think you make a beautiful skater, you skate so easily. Afterwards he said "I do not want to be conceited but I think we beat them all." I skated the grand march with Al. Mr. [Glaize?] asked to bring me home, so Philo and Dell, Mr. G. and I went to the restaurant. We took
