18 Annapolis, Md. Monday, March 21. 1864 Left the barracks, at Baltimore, about 9.30 oclock this morning, and marched to the wharf where we were placed on board a steam boat, and at eleven oclock put out for Annapolis, where we arived about two oclock in the afternoon. Are now encamped on the same ground occupied in 1861, just before going on the Hilton Head, or Port Royal expidition. Rumor has it that Burnside's second expidition will be organized here. I understand there will be at least 50,000 troops here in a few days. Tuesday - 22. The weather is very cold - snow began falling toward night and is now, (8 oclock) falling fast.
