28 Camp near Warrenton Junction, Va. Tuesday May 3d 1864. Received orders to be ready to move tomorrow morning at 7 oclock: men to carry six days rations. Wednesday 4th The forward march began at 8 oclock, and after going about eleven or twelve miles the troops were "about faced" and marched back about two miles when we halted for the night. The following circular was read viz - "Headquarters Army of the Potomac, May 4th 1864 - Soldiers: Again you are called upon to advance upon the enemies of your country. The time and occasion are deemed opportune by your commanding general
