65 Front of Petersburg, Va Tuesday June 20. 1865 Our regiment moved to the front again today - the position now occupied is an ugly one: when a head appears above the breast-works a rebel ball is likely to be put into it, hence, the boys amuse themselves by raising their hats on their ramrods just high enough for the Johnnies to see and put a ball through. Wednesday 22 Owing to the disagreeable and dangerous position we are in our rations, water and everything else must be secured during the night as the rebels object to our attending to any kind of business during the day time. Sergeant Jas. H. Levan, of Co. "G" was wounded.
