71 Front of Petersburg, Va - Thursday, June 30" 1864 Colonel Overton signed the whisky requisition this morning, after which I took it to the Brigade Head Quarters, to be approved, but Colonel Humphreys, the brigade Commander, was at Corps Head Quarters attending a Court martial, hence I left the paper at his office. The regiment was mustered. Angus Miller of Company I was killed, picked off by some reb. Friday July 1. Theodore Faber, Colonel's Clerk, came up to the regiment, having been absent sick. I have been having a long siege of ugly boils, hence am quite unwell.
