73 relation to provisions &c. The Commissary Sergeant being charged with the duty of furnishing cooked rations to the men at proper times. I ordered the Cook corps to locate at the Railroad. Sergeant A.P. Garrett, of Company C, was wounded. Monday July 4th Another ration of Sanitary provisions was issued today, consisting of Pickled and fresh Onions, pickled cucumbers and Lemons. It is impossible to guess the number of men killed and wounded lately, along our whole line, by rebel sharpshooters. Of all the horrors of war, this kind of warfare seems to be the worst. Every day a number of men are reported to have been picked off. David Berger, of Company C, was wounded.
