Through some mismanagement the troops were not properly handled, and instead of driving the rebels off the line, right and left, at once, there was quite a delay, which gave the enemy time to reform their lines, when they turned their cannon on us from every point, thus making it impossible for the troops to do anything further than to seek shelter from the rain of shot and shell. During the engagement our loss in the 50th, was Geo S Tole, Co.F. killed and the following wounded: Henry Howenstine, Co A.
