90 Front of Peterburg, Va - Friday August 5" 1864 Officers baggage was brought up today, by order of the Brigade Commander - proper notice will be given when it is to be sent to the rear. Signed receipt roll for clothing. Saturday 6th Lieut. Eckel came to see me this morning and brought the report that all Pennsylvania Troops, whose time is about to expire, will be mustered out and sent home. Under this rule quite a number of the 50th men will be sent home in September. Sunday 7th The regiment was relieved last night, by negro troops. We moved back about half a mile into a another field. Had my clothing washed.
