Saving...
107 Front of Petersburg, Va. (Near White house) Friday, Sept 2nd 1864 An order was received early this morning to be ready to move at a moments notice; the sick and Cooks only to remain in camp. Every thing was packed, when, at 10.30 oclock, the order was countermanded and tents again put up. Josiah Faust, my assistant, who has been absent sick returned to the regiment. Saturday 3rd Ordered from Geo. C. Jenks, Washington, D.C., addressed Envelopes and a quire of Paper for Jonas Faust - sent $2 25 by mail. The whole of our line was advanced about 500 yards where a new set of earth works were thrown up.
