115 Front of Petersburg, Va (Left flank) Friday, Sept. 23d 1864 Rained this afternoon. Wrote a letter to father asking him to have me assessed and enclosed ten cents to pay County Tax. An official circular was read giving an account of the success of our army at different points. Saturday 24th Rained this afternoon. Made out Ordnance returns for the Adjutant. Promised the Lieutenant of Company "D" to make out some of Company "D"s returns. Sunday 25th The Pay Master is here. A Council of war was held at Army Head Quarters this P.M. The 2nd and part of the 9th Corps left for the right, this afternoon.
