119 only Commissioned officers with us. When we arrived at the Peeble's house we attacked the enemy and drove them into their intrenchments - about this time, through some over sight a gap was left on our right, between us and the 5th Corps. The enemy seeing it rushed out of their works, on our right and at the same time their cavalry charged our left flank. The boys seeing we were likely to be captured a panic set in and a grand rush was made for shelter. After falling back a short distance a stand was made and darkness ended the fight. The fight was not very long but most desperate. Our regiment loss as follows: Killed - Jacob Shade, Private Co. A Nathan Lininger " " E
