129 Near Peeble's House, Va Tuesday, Oct. 18th 1864 Received two packs of addressed Envelopes, from G. C. Jenks, Washington, D.C., one each for Francis and Carl. Received armes for the new men. Bought a new Hat for which I paid $5 00 Wednesday 19th Was on Company Drill this morning and Regimental drill in the afternoon. Our Dress parade in the evening. Michael Ryan, one of the new recruits from Company "K" got drunk and this evening has convulsions from which the Doctor thinks he will die. Thursday 20th Mrs.Shade arived this afternoon, her object being to secure the body of her husband, Jacob Shade, who was killed Sept 30th. over
