134 Near Peeble's House, Va. Saturday, Oct. 29th 1864 Was on Brigade Drill this afternoon. Capt. Brumm made an example of some of the men who ran away, during the engagement yesterday, by marching them around camp with placards pin'd on the back of each reading as follows: 1st man "Volunteer Skimisher in the Rear" 2d ,, "I skulked to the rear" 3d ,, "So did I" and the 4th ,, "and I too". They were preceeded by the drum corps, and an escort of four guards. Sunday 30th Inspection and divine services: sermon by Chaplain of the Christian Commision - Text Hebrews 20th Chap "It is an awful thing to fall into the hands of the living God".
