136 Near Peeble's House, Va. Wednesday, Nov. 2nd 1864 Quarter Master Eckel brought his things (stores &c) up to the regiment and after having everything unloaded was ordered back to the Yellow House again. Faust and I had a splendid house built. Wrote letter to brother Henry. Rained nearly all day. Thursday, 3d Received a letter from sister Anna, and wrote letter to- Miss Lu Bell ,, May La Clair, Wisconsin ,, Susan Greengoslin, Lancaster, Pa Began taking lessons in German - Henry Shadel, of Company A is my teacher.
