Saving...
155 Fort McGilvery, Va. Wednesday, Dec. 14th 1864. On Picket duty last night and today. Owing to a report that the rebels were concentrating troops on our left it was thought a faint might be made in our front, hence the utmost vigilance on our part was directed, however nothing worthy of note occurred during the night. This morning a rebel sharpshooter fired several pretty close shots, when we opened fire sending two vollies at a port hole, in their works, from which the shots came. That settled the business and we were not further molested during the day. Was relieved by Lt. Taylor, of Co. K., Attended "Drill School" this evening, was rather late.
