167 Fort McGilvery, Va. Wedneday, Jan'y 11th 1865 Received a Sword belt from father, by mail. During the day the rebels threw a number of shells into our fort, one of which struck a stack of muskets of Company F" and entirely destroyed one belonging to Corporal John Cooney. Captain G. W. Brumm went home on leave of absence Thursday 12 On Picket again last night and today. During today a fine black Pig came into our lines, from the Rebel line. It had evidently become well acquainted with the sound of the cannon and musketry as it was quite tame.
