198 Fort McGilvery, Va. Wednesday, March 15th 1865 Received orders to send all our surplus baggage to City Point to be stored. Sent the large desk from the Adjutants's office. Lieutenant E. A. Wilbur and I were at City Point, when I bought a pair of Pants and an Officer's Rank Pin. Paid $5 00 for the Pin. Wednesday 22 Received a lot of new recruits, principally drafted men and substitutes. Thursday 23d Moved out of Fort McGilvery back some distance along the Appomatox, which we are to picket, and drill our new men
