203 mand, that as our men were nearly all green, many of them had never been drilled in regimental or battalion drill, it would be almost impossible to handle them in the charge, hence we were ordered back on the second line, however part of the regiment was sent farther to the right to support the 1st Michigan who were detailed as sharpshooters.
