We had a big scare here day before yesterday. Was several reports brought in town that the guerillas were coming in strong force to plunder and burn the town I cleaned up an old Springfield rifle and had it ready to make Shoot at 'em if they did come, Our company is the only soldiers here now- Small Squads of guerillas are committing depredations all around through the county Some times they come within two or three miles of here- I would not be surprised if Several of these roving bands would join and make an attack on us some of these days. we havent very many men but I think we would be enough for four or five hundred guerillas- I havent been out to spend an evening with any of the Fair Daughter of Old Mother Eve for several days. Several of us were invited out to Mrs Rays Tuesday evening- were going to have some girls there and have music- then the guerilla excitement came up so we dident get to go= Green came up last evening and wanted me to go with him some where to see the gals, had something else to do then and couldent go very well, So we concluded to wait till some other evening. Yesterday and to day have been the pleasantest days we have had for a long time, was warm
