Waynesburg, Dec. 15th. 1864 Dear Aunt "Tillie": I received your very interesting, and I must say rather unexpected missive yesterday, and hasten to reply. I had almost concluded, that as the rugged rocks and pine-topped mountains of "Old Fayette" receded from your view, you had silently resolved that all its associations of whatever character should be forgotten. But the receipt of the 6th, and the word of apology attending it, {though the latter was not very satisfactory,} may, I will say, will atone for past offences provided permanent reformation is substituted. My supposition of the cause of you not writing me, was not all earnest. I know, - "many the changes since last we met," -
