Pro Mars office January 22" 1865 Dear Tillie I have taken my [tounge?] in hand this Sabbath morn to tell you what I am doing down here in old Ky - Well in the first place this is a dull gloomy morning raind all day yesterday and bids fair to do the same again to day Is so muddy I dont think I can get to church to day - dont like to get my boots muddy - am too lazy to clean them off and black them again - We had two or three real pleasant Springlike days last week - wont be long now till Spring will come down here - the folks here say it begins to get Springlike in February - Expect you have cold stormy weather up in Ill and perhaps a big sleighing show, Some of our boys that were on I cant write as long letters as you did there is nothing much going on here to write about and my brain is not very prolific of original ideas Give my best Spects to the Sandy folks, Enclosed is a whole lot of love for yourself and the balance of my relations - write soon and long letters as usual - Good bye From 'Jeff'
