Saving...
He replied that they "should fight as long as there was a man of them left." One of my serg'ts was mortally wounded in the fight. I have had several letters from home in the last few days, Were all well, and enjoying themselves from what I could learn. I expect we will be paid off in a short tim, and if I can get a leave of twenty five days I will go home, and probably will go by Wenona, if I dont change my notion. We had Battallion drill to day, the last we will probably have for some time, as the Companies are all being detached, for different kinds of duty. It will not be a very hard matter I guess for us to get leaves of absence, when we may want them, I'll tell you some time who I am writing to in Dixon Ill. Will have to quit. Write soon as you can. Give my love to all the folks & &. Good Bye, L Grim Aunt Tillie
