I am glad to hear that you are looking forward to the expected change in your life with such bright anticipations - hope you may never have occation to regret it - Some times I think about looking up a congenial Spirit and entering on a life of "Weded bliss", dont think I shall make any desperate steps in that direction until I get out of the army though - am getting old and will need some one to care for me - Well our friends, - the guerillas - have not paid us a visit lately There is a company or two of Negros stationed at New Haven to guard the Rail Road bridge the guerillas come in and fire on them every day or two - have wounded four or five of the Negros, dont know certain what effect their fire has had on the G's, has been reported that there was some of them killed - they fought very near all night, night before
