Hannibal, Missouri July 24 - 1865 Ever Dear Friend - I'm in Hannibal - I am. Have been here four weeks next thursday - O! but it has been a long month - Lib is with me - We had letters from home today - Our people are all well - but they have almost had a flood - Bridges have been swept away and a great many lives lost - They did not know how many as all the missing bodies had not been found - It is perfectly awful - Iggie Ullery just passed the window - Lizzie Treat is one of Kate's nearest neighbors - They are all well - are looking for their brother Jim and family every day. Frank and Lucy have arrived at home since our departure - They have lately been to Waynesburg - that interesting sea-port - Do you have any rain - We are having a "small sprinkling" daily - Cousin Jesse Pennock (Upside-down, at head of page:-) Lib Treat talks of going to Penn'a in Sept - Higinbothams have gone - We have a new piano at home
