H&S Co, 136th Med Regt Camp Claiborne, LA June 29, 1941 My Dearest Dorothea: I received your letter of the 25th last night and was certainly pleased to hear from you and was especially pleased when you wrote that our twelve years of married life have been happy ones to you. I assure you that it has been mutually happy and that you are entitled to a large part of the credit for it. You have worked hard and worried probably more than you should. However I think we have done pretty well for starting out with no more than we had to set forth within our journey of marriage. I too hope we won't have to be separated more than a year, if that long. It seems like it may have been a mistake, but one of those where there is no turning back and the only thing to do is to go ahead and try and make it into something worth while.
