Burlington Ia Mar. 31, 1943 My Dearest; I received your letter written the 28th and so glad to get it. You sure had hard luck with the old fliver didn't you? I think an old car is just like an old house, a constant expense. Glad you got to go to Detroit and see a few things. A change would do you good. Did you get the fried chicken? And what shape was it when you got it? I hope it wasn't spoiled. At last we got the furnace fixed today. He worked all day yesterday and also all day today. I suppose it will be some bill. He sure did a slick job though. He cleaned the furnace all out good with his Vacuum too. I hate to see the bill though. Ruth is cleaning house for me now. She worked in the attic all day. My but it is black up there. She worked from 7:30 until 4:30. Then she went to the hospital to see Grace. I don't know whether I told you or not, but Grace was taken to the hospital day before yesterday. She has stoppage of the bowel. I guess they
