Monday PM 2/24/41 Dear Dorothea & all; Well, we've had a very eventful and uneventful day. The conductor advised me & got his berth last night instead of the one I was supposed to have - Upper 2. I was very sorry & asked him why he didn't roust me out & he said he didn't come to bed until 3:00 A.M. & I was sleeping so good, he couldn't think of waking me up, so he took my upper berth. This is very poor country we have been going through. We got to Kansas City last night about 9:00 & were there for an hour - we didn't get off. When we got to Iowa City yesterday, we picked up Company G & there was a tremendous crowd down to the train to see them off. Then at Newton we picked up Company A and a tremendous crowd there.
