my earlier letter but Winnie died. The vet told me all the time that she was very, very sick and he held very small hopes of her recovery. It seems funny that you have snow up there when we don't have even a sight of it here. But I would just as soon spend my winter there. Thanks for the house receipt. I notice the balance is only $2000.00 now. We seem to get them gradually whittled down in spite of all our troubles and worries. Yes it was OK to cash the [Riepe?] check. Wonder how they settled it? Too bad about Ruth. I still think she is ill from the poison from her teeth. You will remember she has had the tooth ache and always got it whenever she ate any candy - ever since she has been working for us. I don't see how they could in any way blame you. So don't worry about that. Glad Mother is taking her tonic and expect she'll be turning handsprings before long. Love & kisses to all, Daddy.
