Saving...
Camp Forrest, Tennessee January 15, 1943 My Dearest, I don't know how but I got one of your letters ahead of the last one written. You must have forgotten to mail it or something. Winnie is very sick with distemper. In fact I doubt if she lives. She would get up and run around the room and run right into the wall, chairs, tables, the bed and would froth at the mouth. These spells would last for almost half an hour. Then she would come to herself and would appear worn out and would lay down and would groan and whine with every breath. This kept up all night so I was up and down a million times and turned turned the light on and of continuously. I know it kept most of the the boys in the end of the barracks awake - so this morning I took her down to the Station Vet and told him if she was in too bad a shape to dispose of her. He was going to give her a shot and thought by tomorrow he would know what he could do for her. I am going to the USO show- "Room Service" which is to be at the Sports Arena tonight.
