Saving...
Camp Forrest, Tennessee Monday, Jan 11, 1943 Dearest Dorothea: Nothing much new today but the usual office procedure. I did call up the tire inspector and make arrangements to have him come out in a taxi to inspect my tires and I've made applications for one new one and a new tube. He approved it and the local board approved it and still have to go before the county rationing board and be Oked there before I can get it. You see, I am stuck with the darn old car and the only thing to do now is to make it work or lose it all. It only cost me $18.00 to travel 1300 miles which is pretty cheap transportation and you really can't blame the tires because they were old to start with. My throat is much better but still touchy and once in a while I get a catch in it and almost strangles me. How is Mother? I imagine she is about over her pleursy attack by this time - as they usually don't last so very long. I'm certainly pleased to hear that the kids are doing better in dancing school and suggest you make them put in an hour each night practicing. There is a portable phonograph in the attack
