[August 19, 1918] My Dearest Bess, Well I have been up here almost a week now and I hope I will not have to put in many more here. There is not a single green thing that I have seen except the trees and they are dry although they have a kind of sickly green. We work Sunday fore noon and this afternoon we played the graphpophone and talked. We expect to see my Maj Lure who will be surg. Chief of No 85. A Base Hosp. is composed of 35 doctors I dont know just how many nurses and 200 corps boys who do orderly work etc. This serves as a unit and is a separate organization from
