Friday, July 29, 1864 Grand junction Lieut. Smith [curounding]. relieved from sentinel. 6 [of?] the Boys went out and discovered a few {chickins?] our Co placed S. of the Bridge Lieut. Smith & 10 men [illegible] out one mile down the R.R. had plenty green [corn?] trains passed the the bridge & went to Davis Mills 1st time cars went over the road in 2 years [illegible] Saturday 30 Lagrange In line at roll call the cotton around here just commencing to bloom.
