We did not break up till after one oclock next morning, & you may believe there were some fellows went up to recitations that day with poor lessons & sleepy eyes. But you must not think that I neglect my studies for the girls of this town, it might have been the case had I been going to school in Sparta, but here never?? I received a letter some time since from my Sister in Oquawka. She states that you & Sam Simpson were up there, & were talking of moving up in the spring, I hope it may only prove talk, for if you go I suppose I will not get to see you untill I go up there & who can tell when that may be. Well I believe I must close this as it is getting late, & I must be up betimes in the morning as old King Ebenezer intends to examin us tomorrow. I hope you will excuse all mistakes, & will not follow my example, about putting of writing but write soon. Give my best respect to your wife & all inquring friends. Your friend David McDill Joseph McDill P S When you write tell me whether it is true about your moving to Iowa Write soon - or------
