Randolph County Illinois July 1st 52 Dear Brother I take a little leasure now after cutting my Wheat of Writing a few lines to you and yours letting you know that we are enjoying good health at the present, hoping these few lines will find you all enjoying the same blessing. I received your letter on the 22 of April, whitch gave us great satisfaction that you landed safe home and found all well. Father, Mother and Mary ann and frends are all well as far I know. Thomas Parks died a few days after you left and there has been several deaths since through the neighborhood that we know viz old man Weatherington James McNeil and Andrew East died a Monday with the cholera with a few hours sickness he had been to St. Louis last week the arisiploid fevor has been very fatal through the County this Season. Monica and I was at St. Louis last week with a load of hogs & calves. We got 5 1/4 per lb for pork & 5 dollars a peace for calves our load amounts to forty one dollars & half; We had a verry backward Spring for planting crops looks very well considering the rain that we have had. My wheat is tolerably good. I supose I will have enough to do us. We have a heavy rain and wind this morning whitch has blowed my oats and grass flat. My oats was about shoulder high
