rare occasions to get to Nevers a beautiful old city or to the Moulins the home of the Bourbons and Thurs. I am going up to Bourges to see the cathedral which I understand is a particularly beautiful one. We have a beautiful location on a hillside and many delightful walks so life may be lonely but never uninteresting. Just a mile from us is an old church part of which was built in the 8th Century, and looks it in spite of being in excellent repair. I am charmed with the vicinity and hope to be able to stay here for several months. Yesterday we were so fortunate as to be invited to a nearby chateau to see some miniatures which had been painted by a young artist from Paris, whom we also met.
