Saving...
seems hard to believe it is over fifty miles away. I signed up for a furlough this morning dont have any idea how long it will be before I get it but Im pretty sure of one now. They are temporarily out of forms which need to be filled out but I signed with the operations offices. which puts me in line when my turn comes up. I shall try and make it quick as possible for I sure want to come home and I'd like to make it before the leaves are all gone. I will have enough money for the trip I think. thanks for the kind offer (If I get one). It will cost a fortune to to feed me when I get home all the things I can think of now that I want. Hope the gas isn't rationed when I get home I surely miss driving. You folks were lucky. I know Mrs. Chapman is a grand cook and you had an excellent meal. Hope your [illegible] gets better soon, better [fat?] bring the fries it is it counts up fast. [Illegible] fries are sure grand. This year I enjoy hearing about them. The Argo and Union do pretty well at keeping me informed. I noticed to day where some farmer man [illegible] had brought sampls of B [fisters?] 366 in to W.H.B. and said it would go over 100 Bu. While I think of it the scissors came and were just the [checker?] for my [tonsorial?] work. I thought I told you perhaps I forgot it. Monday I got two packages in the mail, the Dibbles sent me a very handy little stainless steel mirror and I got a package from Chicago with no name or identification in it. I couldn't guess where it came from It was a book of cartoons which had appeared in Colliers magazine "Colliers Collects its Wits." it is a very nice book
