Dear Dad & Mom, It has been very dismal and gloomy here the last two or three days. Rainy and around a new camp with no sidewalks the mud is a mess. It tracks in the barracks a foot deep and they have to be scrubbed clean every day. It's raining now but looks as tho it might clear soon. It makes work on the line rather miserable but it won't last long. I have a new job for a few days, doing carpenter work. Building board walks, partitions etc. Don't know just how long it will last but it is something different for a while. When I went in the army, they asked me what I did before I came in. I said I had worked in the lumber yard and he wanted to know if I did carpenter work. I said a little so that must be how come I was picked. Can't seem to find time to write regularly the past few days but will try and do better. Had a letter from you and one from grandma & 4 more cards yesterday. Just plowed thru the mud to chow and lost both heels of my shoes in the sticky stuff. I have a new pair never worn but hate to wear them in this mess. Wanted to go to town to a football game tonight but I guess I'll have to work, building some partitions in the operations office Expect they will be plywood or cilatex thats usually what they use around here. I should be working now but am taking off long enough
