Saving...
quality wasnt it? He must be getting along fine. he is a good Joe. It seems tho the Sherrens have nearly kept you folks in vegetables this season. They are most generous and fine neighbors. Everyone must have had big [mitary?] gardens this year. The other night at the movie Vera Vague told Jerry Calona "My thats a nice [mitary?] garden you have under your nose." Calona you know has a big black mustausch. We will just have to wait on the furlough thats how things are done in the army. I want it as soon as I can get it but that doesnt hurry the big shots any. You see everyone in the squadron applied for one and it goes by the length of time fellows have been in the service and lots have been in longer than I have. I could sign up for carpenter steady if I wanted to, dont know if I should or not as far as learning things are concerned I wouldnt because they have [four?] [sticks?] for carpenters at least those Ive seen were junk. Frank Kahler wouldnt tolerate them Im sure. Some day I must write him a card I believe he'd get a kick out of it. I still think about him telling me to "saw, saw, saw" & laugh to myself. Well this all for tonight Love Johnny
