Oct 18, 1942 Pueblo, Colorado Dear Dad & Mom: By the time you get this letter you will have probably talked to me, unless the flight I am scheduled for is postponed. A crew was chosen from each squadron to Sioux City for five days. We don't know what it is but guess it is a work detail, no doubt the field at Sioux City being brand new has more maintenance work than they can handle and we are to help out. This is guess work of course, I surely wouldnt mind being stationed there, but we arent taking all of our clothes, however anything can happen. Im not crazy about the flying but its worth it to maybe get to see you folks. You could drive to uncle Raymonds one day and to Sioux City the next day. I couldnt get off but Im sure we could visit a little. Weather here is still rain and cold rainy but clearing this afternoon, hope [Donna's?] good weather is holding out. Im quite excited about the trip, the other fellows are good friends of mine which makes it more pleasant. You folks must be living in cramped quarters all right.
