Saving...
Dec 4, 1942. Tucson Ariz. Dear Dad & Mom: Not working again today but per- haps I will this evening It's quite a vacation for me. I dont know how our ship is coming along as we cant get near the hangar where it is being worked on. As yet we have no passes so I havent been out of camp [illegible] have I seen Charles [Kaepell?] but probably will do both soon. A bunch of us played football this morning just for exercise rather enjoyed it of course it wasnt regular tackle just touch ball. We hav ea nice day room and library here four ping pong tables that are busy most of the time and at least a dozen writing desks. They have outdoor type chairs and they are too low for the desks but lots better than none. The books arent too numerous, last night I read Willa Cathers "Sapphira & the Slave Girl" it is two or three years old but it wasnt very hard reading
