April 16, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad & Mom: Just arrived back here in camp after a swell vacation. It did me good to see the pretty country, green grass trees, bridal [wreath?] & roses in bloom etc. Went to town and looked Sacramento over from stern to stern it's a very nice town and Im very glad I got to go. I sint you a card but perhaps this will get there before the card does so Ill explain about it. I worked all night Tuesday night we installed a new engine in Nelly. Got to bed at 8 AM Wed. & they woke me up at 9 AM and told me to get ready to go to Sacramento Cal. as I was flying over in 136 as aerial engineer. That is our old ship and it was going [down?] for some modification or the horizontal stabilizer. I got up, shaved & showered and reported in to engineering. We didnt get away until 3:30 P.M but we gained an hour going west. so got in there at about 6 P.M. It was very pretty over the mountains and the plane behaved beautifully. They sent me because Id been with the plane a long
