My Dearest Bess: I have just returned from Haspr No 5 this afternoon and sitting on my bed thinking of you and wanting very much to be with you. Where man will be however is so [illegible] man it makes me sick when I dwell on that [illegible]. I have not the slightest idea when I will be able to come back and be with you & Helen. I have [illegible] to go down into service with a Red Cross outfit under Co. [Towery?] of Chicago but I can not [illegible] until a week or so. If I do I will be here at least 4 mo. but I [illegible] probably be here at least that long anyway, or may be longer. I wish I were home we would go somewhere and just [illegible] the [illegible]
