Thurs. 4.  For the first time in my life was I on a dizzy height.  I ascended the dome of the court house at a height of 185 ft. above fourth street, it was a peculiar feeling to look down upon the people and city.  A splendid view can be had here of the city and vicinity.
Frid 5.  I have received several letters recently from Iowa stating that my services would be accepted there this winter as teacher and therefore feel willing to go.
Sat. 6.  I am a temporary member of the St. Louis Library Association, where I spend a few moments very pleasantly every day admiring the works of art, and reading some interesting book or paper.
Sun. 7  This day has not been spent very profitably by me for some time; in fact I have had no chance to enjoy it as I desire being surrounded by influences contrary to religion, which I must speedily sever, else my former piety will soon be wrecked.
Mond. 8  Nothing of importance is reported from any side.  Price seems determined to escape an engagement with Fremont, and is hurrying to the Arkansas border, the rebel should be shot at the first opportunity.
